Read About Our Journey down the Mississippi River at High Speed (13 mph+) to:

Bean Branch Creek, KY anchorage

Cairo, IL is where the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers converge. Cruising down the Mississippi we were doing 13+ mph which is 5 mph faster than our normal hull speed for Calucy Too so we were flying. Once we entered the Ohio River our upbound speed was significantly reduced to 5.5 mph by the strong Ohio River current.

Captain John's Nebo Cruise Log - Day 34

Miles Traveled Today: 77.5

Cumulative Miles: 1502.2

Duration of Stay: 1 night at anchor off the main Ohio River channel

Information on Anchorage: Bean Branch Creek

After locking upbound through the Olmsted Lock on the Ohio River we joined our cruising friends Bruce and Kathy (Escape is shown below) on board Escape for a comfortable quiet anchorage. Nothing remarkable about this stop but it was out of the Mississippi River and protected from barge traffic. One short day left to reach Paducah, KY (it's soon to be Lucy's birthday!)
