History: George P. Perkins, a representative of a New York lumber firm, began this place in 1862. It was incorporated as a village in 1887 and as a city in 1895. The adjacent community of Tawas Beach was annexed into East Tawas in 1922. Today, it is a tourist destination on Saginaw Bay with a nice state park and downtown catering to the summer tourists.

Our Story:

Definitely a topsy turvey day for Lucy! She knows her limit and decided that today is a Dramamine Day for crossing Saginaw Bay! One dose early enough and she’s fine. People suggest other remedies like the patch or the bracelet, but she’s had such good success with either Dramamine or it’s equivalent that she stays with that. As she relaxes she enjoys the ride and takes a snooze now and then. She’s not very helpful with navigating. She does rouse when necessary for handling lines when docking in the East Tawas State Harbor. Always feels good to settle in for the night.
