We had a lovely short cruise across the northern portion of Lake St. Clair into the middle channel of the St. Clair River heading up to the Algonac Harbor Club in Algonac, MI. Algonac’s boating history is tied to the manufacture of Chris Craft pleasure boats for several decades.

The manufacturing buildings are still present on the Marina grounds but are used as warehousing now.

Had a great fun dinner at Catch 22 up the street from the Marina-pan fried Lake Perch—yum! Chris Craft photos and various nautical items hung on the walls.

A classic wooden cruiser shown above is one example of many which plied the lakes for years. My grandfather was the proud owner of a Chris Craft Commander 42’ in the 1950’s.
